The Forensic Digest Journal welcomes first time writers as well as published authors. Writing is a valuable medium through which we share knowledge, opinion and research with others. Writing may be considered a professional obligation as it serves as a method of mentoring through the presentation of information that stimulates thoughts and ideas in the reader. The editorial staff of the Forensic Digest Journal is aware that submission guidelines may often prove a stumbling block that prohibit rather than encourage writers. To that end, we have tried to make the process of article submission as “user-friendly” as possible. Please review the guidelines below and begin writing!
Manuscript submission guidelines:
- Please submit your work in MS Word (.doc; .docx) or Rich-text Format (.rtf) only
- Use Times Roman 12 point font
- Double space your work
- Develop a page one that includes:
1. The working title of the manuscript
2. The name(s) of all writers; the primary writer is listed first, with the others to follow.
3. The educational qualifications, if applicable, after each name.
4. The primary contact source for article review, questions and comments. Contact information should include both a physical as well as an email address.
Additionally:
- Conceptualize your finished manuscript as a minimum of four pages to no more than 12 pages in length, excluding page one (see above). Graphs, tables etc may be inserted in the manuscript or included at the end as appendices. All graphics must have a descriptive caption. If you are including any work, not your own, you must have a statement of copyright permission from the copyright holder. Permission may be in the form of a formal letter or an email from the copyright holder.
- All citations and references must be formatted using the format found in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th ed.), commonly referred to as APA guidelines.
- Authors submitting to the Forensic Digest must certify in writing, at the time of their submission, that the article is not currently under review elsewhere for the possibility of publication and that it will not be submitted elsewhere prior to editorial decision at the Digest. Certification may be made easily through an email to the editor. The primary author may write on behalf of all contributing authors to the article.
And finally:
- The editorial staff reserves the right to edit the material without changing the meaning or intent of the submission. All edits are returned to the (primary) writer for review and consideration.
- If your manuscript has been approved for inclusion in the Forensic Digest, you will be notified via email. At that time, you will be asked to submit a photo and short biographical sketch.
- The editorial staff will select photos and graphics that best illustrate the intent and meaning of your article. We will send you the completed version of the manuscript before publication. It is your responsibility to address any concerns you might have at that time.
- Once your manuscript has been accepted for publication by the Forensic Digest, it becomes our property and we hold the copyright to it.
